Don’t take a chance with your mental health
“It couldn’t happen to me.” “Sure, other people experienced that as trauma, but I’m fine.” It’s easy to dismiss our own experiences, or sweep them under the table. Not only is this harmful for you, but your friends and family. Even if we don’t realize it, our mental health has a direct effect on our lives. It affects how we feel about ourselves, our relationships with others and ultimately how we live. We can be so consumed by our mundane, day to day problems that we forget to look at what’s really going on in our lives. When we’re stuck in a rut, it’s easy to lose track of where we are and what’s important to us. So, for your health and those around you, take care of your mental health.
Mental illness is often stigmatized, with those suffering from conditions such as anxiety and depression treated like they’re ‘defective’. Worse, you may often hear ‘it’s all in your head’ or blamed for your state. People see the symptoms without recognizing the signs. For example, those struggling with depression may get called ‘lazy’ for not taking care of themselves or their spaces, even though it’s a challenge just getting out of bed in the morning. It’s easy to try and shove our issues down and ignore Just like how you can’t to deny yourself of the fact that there was something wrong with me and no matter how hard you try to be normal, there was this part of me that hindered it, the you can’t deny that mental health problems are real and that something must to be done about it.
Even if you feel like you’re experiencing mental health issues, you may be unsure of where to start on the road to wellness. The first step lies in yourself and your environment. If you are in a place that makes your issues worse, try to change your setting. While a positive environment won’t cure you, it will help you take action and keep you on the right course. Find people who care about your health and support you.
From there, the best thing you can do is to seek out professionals; not only do they work with people with similar conditions, but they can provide expert resources and guidance to take back your mental health.
